- rc> I am wondering how well Shape Shifter works with this configuration.
- rc> Is anyone running it like this? I have 10 Megs, will I have memory

- rc> it multi-task? If it's really great I might sell my Mac.. :)
-
- I am using a GVP 1230 board with 8MB fast ram (as well as the 2MB of chip
- ram).
-
- Eight megabytes fast is barely enough. The MacROM will consume half
- a megabyte of ram, the MacOS 7.5 consumes two megabytes (four megabytes
- if you want QuickDraw, which is essentially unrealistic with my setup).
-
- I am using a Mac LC II rom, which might not be entirely appropriate
- as I think an LC II has a 020 processor rather than a 030. There
- are occasional crashes; for some reason the parallel port has not
- worked yet, attempts to access the printer has consistently
- resulted in crashes.
-
- If you have no external graphics card (like all A1200 owners at this
- stage), black and white is the only reasonable screen option. This is
- OK if you have a multisync monitor (reducing the herring bone effect).
-
- You will also need to set aside a parition of your hard-drive for
- fast operation.
-
- However, for all the grumbles, I am glad that I have registered because
- it works with all Newton utilities I have tried very well indeed, with
- the possible exception of the Newton Package extractor.
-
- Cheerio, David.
